Chan Vathanaka signs a year deal with Pahang FA 

Cambodia international forward Chan Vathanaka announced himself as a new Pahang FC player on social media yesterday afternoon after finishing a season long loan at Fujieda MYFC in J-league 3 from Boeung Ket FC. 

The left-footed forward arrived in Cambodia from Japan last week and had a few training sessions with Boeung Ket FC for the first round of the 2017 Toyota Mekong Club Championship second leg, with the two-time champions of Cambodia beaten 5-1 at home.

The 23-year-old played for Boeung Ket FC for the first time in 2017 and delivered one assist to center-back Sok Sovan’s goal in Boeung Ket FC’s 5-1 defeat to Sanna Khanh Hoa BVN FC in the second leg. Following a heavy defeat [9-5 on aggregate], the Blue Dragons crashed out of the 2017 Toyota Mekong Club Championship first round.

CV11 was the main man in Boeung Ket FC’s second league triumph in 2016, with the forward bagging twenty-two league goals to win the 2016 Metfone Cambodian League Golden Boot winner.

The Kampot-born is a quality forward, who can sharpen Pahang FA’s attack in their Malaysia Super League campaign next season that is scheduled to kick off in February.

Chan Vathanaka wrote on his Facebook: “It is my honour to announce that I have just signed a one-year contract with PAHANG FC of Malaysia, so please support me and give me power to succeed in my professional football career.”

Following a dream move to join the Malaysian outfit, Chan Vathanaka has become the third Cambodian player to play in the Malaysia Super League after Bin Chantha Thierry and Keo Sokpheng.

Cambodia drawn in Group C of AFC Asian Cup 2019 Qualifiers

Cambodia has been drawn in Group C alongside Jordan, Afghanistan, and neighbouring nation, Vietnam, in AFC Asian Cup 2019 qualifiers (third round). The group winner, accompanied by the runners-up, will earn a qualification to play in the final competition that will be hosted by United Arab Emirates.
Cambodia progressed to the final round of AFC Asian Cup 2019 qualifiers after having defeated Chinese Taipei 4-2 on aggregate with a 2-2 draw in an away match on 02 June 2016 and 2-0 win at home on 07 June 2016 in the qualifiers play-off.
Each team including Cambodia will play home-and-away in a round-robin format with a total of six matches. As such, the local fans will be able to enjoy three home matches. Cheer!
