Honda becomes the new national coach of Cambodia

The Football Federation of Cambodia has named Keisuke Honda as the new National Coach of Cambodia to represent Cambodia. Official Sunday morning, August 12, to prepare for the main tournament in Southeast Asia.

The appointment of the 32-year-old new coach to prepare for international friendly matches with the Malaysian and Singapore national teams. Before the first trophy in ASEAN, the AFF Championship arrived at the end of this year.

Chan Vathanaka signs a year deal with Pahang FA 

Cambodia international forward Chan Vathanaka announced himself as a new Pahang FC player on social media yesterday afternoon after finishing a season long loan at Fujieda MYFC in J-league 3 from Boeung Ket FC. 

The left-footed forward arrived in Cambodia from Japan last week and had a few training sessions with Boeung Ket FC for the first round of the 2017 Toyota Mekong Club Championship second leg, with the two-time champions of Cambodia beaten 5-1 at home.

The 23-year-old played for Boeung Ket FC for the first time in 2017 and delivered one assist to center-back Sok Sovan’s goal in Boeung Ket FC’s 5-1 defeat to Sanna Khanh Hoa BVN FC in the second leg. Following a heavy defeat [9-5 on aggregate], the Blue Dragons crashed out of the 2017 Toyota Mekong Club Championship first round.

CV11 was the main man in Boeung Ket FC’s second league triumph in 2016, with the forward bagging twenty-two league goals to win the 2016 Metfone Cambodian League Golden Boot winner.

The Kampot-born is a quality forward, who can sharpen Pahang FA’s attack in their Malaysia Super League campaign next season that is scheduled to kick off in February.

Chan Vathanaka wrote on his Facebook: “It is my honour to announce that I have just signed a one-year contract with PAHANG FC of Malaysia, so please support me and give me power to succeed in my professional football career.”

Following a dream move to join the Malaysian outfit, Chan Vathanaka has become the third Cambodian player to play in the Malaysia Super League after Bin Chantha Thierry and Keo Sokpheng.

Cambodia drawn in Group C of AFC Asian Cup 2019 Qualifiers

Cambodia has been drawn in Group C alongside Jordan, Afghanistan, and neighbouring nation, Vietnam, in AFC Asian Cup 2019 qualifiers (third round). The group winner, accompanied by the runners-up, will earn a qualification to play in the final competition that will be hosted by United Arab Emirates.

Cambodia progressed to the final round of AFC Asian Cup 2019 qualifiers after having defeated Chinese Taipei 4-2 on aggregate with a 2-2 draw in an away match on 02 June 2016 and 2-0 win at home on 07 June 2016 in the qualifiers play-off.

Each team including Cambodia will play home-and-away in a round-robin format with a total of six matches. As such, the local fans will be able to enjoy three home matches. Cheer!

Chan Vathanaka returns to training

Cambodia international and Boeung Ket Angkor's forward, Chan Vathanaka, returns to training after a rib injury that kept him out of action for around a month and missed his side's semifinals of Toyota Mekong Club Championship 2016. The left-footed forward has posted about his injury update on his Facebook and expected to be able to play soon. 

"Returned to training for the first time after injury and hope to be able to play soon. Especially and hopefully to hear good news soon," Chan Vathanaka wrote on his Facebook.

The 22-year-old had missed a lot of Boeung Ket Angkor's vital matches including their 3-0 defeat in the semifinals of 2016 Toyota Mekong Club Championship. The two-time C-league champion's attack seemed to be toothless without Vathanaka, so his return to training will be the great news for the club and fans.

Sou Yaty is doubt for Toyota Mekong Club Championship.

Cambodia international and Boeung Ket Angkor #1 goalkeeper, Sou Yaty, is uncertain if he can play in the semi-final of Toyota Mekong Club Championship due to injury. The goalkeeper picked up a finger injury during Boeung Ket Angkor's semi-final clash of BTV Cup in Vietnam. Thus, he is unsure if he can get fit on time when his side host the group winner from first round on 31 December 2016 in Phnom Penh.

"I'm not sure if I can get fit on time to play in Toyota Mekong Club Championship. It [hand] is still hurt, but it's around 30% better," Yaty told TheMorning.

Two second-half goals seal Boeung Ket Angkor a win over the host.

It's a great start for the 2016 Champions of Cambodian League, Boeung Ket Angkor, but it's a cruel match for the home side, Becamex Binh Duong, as they dominated almost the entire match, yet went down to lose 2-nil, and also Boeung Ket Angkor have to thank their goal-keeper, Sou Yaty, for many great saves. 

Coach Prak Sovannara's side bag three essential points as they defeated the host, Becamex Binh Duong, 2-nil in the opener of Group A in BTV Cup despite less ball possession in this evening's match. The home side controlled much of the possession, but couldn't break the visitors' defense. Former Preah Khan Reach Svayrieng's forward, Dzarma Bata, who came on in the second half netted home to put Boeung Ket Angkor in front on 69. Boeung Ket Angkor's new signing, Julius Oiboh, extended the lead to 2-nil on 81' with a great solo strike to earn his side vital three points against Group A's tough opponent.

Boeung Ket Angkor will play their second Group A's match against Korea University Selection Team on 05 December 2016. Will they be able to make it two wins out of two?

The 2016 champions of Cambodian League, Boeung Ket Angkor, will face the host, Becamex Binh Duong, in the opener of Group A in BTV Cup in Vietnam. Boeung Ket Angkor downed Becamex Binh Duong once last year in the semi-finals of Toyota Mekong Club Championship 2015 with a 3-2 victory in Vietnam. Thus, can they do that again in this evening's clash?

The group-stage match between the two sides will be played this evening at 6.00 (local time), and it will be shown live on Boeung Ket Angkor's Official Facebook Page.

Three wins out of three qualifying matches seal the host Cambodia a qualification spot in AFF Suzuki Cup 2016

The qualification round of AFF Suzuki Cup 2016 has come to an end as the host, Cambodia, win the spot to play in the tournament as they bag maximum nine points from three matches.

The KoupreyBlues (Cambodia) made it three wins out of three matches, earning full nine points, after they defeated Laos 2-1 in the opening match, thrashed Brunei 3-nil in the second, and narrowly beat Timor Leste 3-2 in the final match. It's Cambodia's second time to receive the qualification to play in AFF Suzuki Cup since 2008.

Cambodia will be included in Group B alongside the three awaiting teams including the host Myanmar, Vietnam, and Malaysia.

"We made a few mistakes in possession and that let them back in the game. Like I said in our last game we had problems with concentration.

"But we made it through we are now through to the final round and we will try to challenge with the higher level teams.

"I think Timor Leste prepared well for our [tactics] and this showed as they were able to get in behind the defence too often.

"All our players worked hard, but we have to continue to improve every day, especially when we come up against the higher level teams.

The host, Cambodia, earn a qualification spot after a narrow 3-2 win against Timor Leste

It seemed to be an easy match for the home side, Cambodia, as they took two-goal lead just within 17 minutes of the first half and created many goal scoring chances, but Timor Leste proved it wrong as they didn't give up and managed to level the score to 2-2 into the first half break.

In front of their big home crowds, Cambodia took one goal lead as National Police's attacking midfielder, Tit Dina, scored a fantastic goal into the top right corner on 2'. The fans' favorite Chan Vathanaka scored his first goal of the tournament to put his side 2-goal lead on 17'. Timor Leste pulled one back just three minutes after Boeung Ket Angkor's forward's goal via Barbosa's excellent penalty kick. Viegas upset the home side with an equalizer for Timor Leste on 34' to end the first half with a 2-2 draw. The home side tried to press hard in the second half, and Vathanaka scored a match winner for them on 78' with an impressive dribble into Timor Leste's penalty box as well as a neat finish to earn Cambodia maximum nine points from three matches.

Following an unbeaten record with three wins out of three qualifying matches, Cambodia earn a spot to play in AFF Suzuki Cup 2016 where they will face other three awaiting teams including the host Myanmar, Vietnam, and Malaysia in Group B. Well-done the KoupreyBlues!

Three first-half goals seal Cambodia an important 3-nil win over Brunei

The host, Cambodia, thrashed Brunei 3-nil to earn other three vital points to move them to the first place in AFF Suzuki Cup qualifiers after two matches. It's a perfect start for the KoupreyBlues (Cambodia) as they took three-goal lead into the break.

The KoupreyBlues took two-goal lead just within 10 minutes of the first half. Preah Khan Reach Svayrieng's attacking midfielder, Prak Monyudom, scored directly from the corner kick to put the home side ahead on 6'. Keo Sokpheng doubled the lead just three minutes after Monyudom's goal. It's Monyudom again who scored his second goal, which is Cambodia's third to earn an important 3-nil victory over Brunei as it was goalless in the second half despite many attempts from both sides.

Following that vital win, the host could now make it two wins out of two matches, which allow them to earn the qualification to play in AFF Suzuki Cup 2016 for the second time since 2008.

Cambodia will play their last match against Timor Leste who can earn no points so far as they lost twice in their first two matches, and the match will kick off on 21-Oct-2016 at 6.30pm.

Khuon Laboravy reveals what’s behind his recent poor form

Boeung Ket Angkor’s forward, Khuon Laboravy, is recently not in his best form for both club and national team, and this could cause him lose his chance in Cambodia Starting XI. The left-footed forward has been played as a substitute in many matches of the national team by the South Korean head coach, Lee Tae Hoon. The 28-year-old was also benched in Cambodia’s tough 2-1 win against Laos in the opening match of AFF Suzuki Cup qualifiers last night. The player has also admitted that he is not in his good form like before due to three factors, but insists that he need to work much harder to deal with it.

“It [his poor form] is because of my age, weight [gain weight], and injury. I must keep training much harder and get enough rest as I am getting old,” Laboravy told TheMorning.

Despite not being in his fine form, Laboravy managed to score nine league goals for Boeung Ket Angkor and won the league title with them last season. In last night’s match when Cambodia defeated Laos 2-1, he came on in the half way of the second half to replace Sos Suhana and created a few chances to score for his side, but he unfortunately couldn’t find the back of the net.

Chhin Chhoeun: my match winner is for all the fans

National Defense Ministry's attacking midfielder, Chhin Chhoeun, scored a match winner for Cambodia on 81' in his side's narrow 2-1 win over the tough opponent, Laos, in their first match of qualifying round of AFF Suzuki Cup 2016. Chhoun felt very delighted to score the winning goal for the home side and insisted that the goal is for all the fans and Cambodia. "I am very happy to score the winner for Cambodia, and the goal is for every fan and Cambodia," Chhoeun told BTVNEWS after the match.

Chhoeun is one of the important players in Lee's 5-3-2 formation as the player is so speedy that allows him to attack and defend on the right wing.

Chhin Chhoeun netted the match winner to earn Cambodia a norrow 2-1 win against Laos

The host Cambodia collect three essential points in the first match of AFF Suzuki Cup qualifiers following a tough 2-1 win against Laos last night. 

Preah Khan Reach Svayrieng's attacking midfielder, Prak Monyudom, netted from the penalty spot to put the home side in front on 43' in the first period of the match after he was fouled in Laos' dangerous box. Souksavath leveled the score to 1-1 for the visitors just seven minutes into the second half after the KoupreyBlues' defenders failed to clear the ball from the right-hand cross near the penalty box. Chhin Chhoeun scored the match winner on 81' to earn the KoupreyBlues a narrow 2-1 win.

Following their victory over Laos, Cambodia are now second in the table of the qualifying round ahead by the first place, Brunei, who also won their opener 2-1 against Timor Leste.

Cambodia will play their second match of the tournament against Brunei on 18 October 2016 at 6.30pm.
